The Department of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy of the Academic and Research Medical Institute of Sumy State University, together with the Student Self-Government, organized the “REHAB” student hackathon, which brought together first- to third-year students around current issues in modern rehabilitation, teamwork, and the search for creative solutions in the fields of physical therapy and occupational therapy.
Particular attention during the event was paid to first-year students. The hackathon provided them with an excellent opportunity to become more familiar with their chosen field, gain a better understanding of the specifics of their future professional activities, and explore its practical aspects from the very beginning of their studies.
Working in mixed teams alongside senior students, the participants completed interactive tasks, considered real-life and simulated rehabilitation situations, jointly searched for possible solutions, and learned to comprehensively assess people’s needs from the perspective of future rehabilitation professionals.
The hackathon became a space for applying theoretical knowledge in practice, developing creative thinking and teamwork skills. Participants had the opportunity to exchange ideas, gain new experience, and demonstrate their strengths.
At the same time, the event contributed to bringing together students from different years of study, fostering friendly communication, and strengthening an active and supportive student community at the Academic and Research Medical Institute of Sumy State University.
“REHAB” demonstrated that modern rehabilitation is not only about professional knowledge and practical skills, but also about the ability to work as part of a team, think creatively, and find solutions with the needs of each individual as the primary focus.
